Can You Combine CBD Treatments?

By nuhumun | November 06, 2019

So you’ve decided to begin taking CBD. You’ve done your research and you’ve decided to go with the trusted nuhumun brand. The next step: choosing which product to use. But what if more than one appeals to you? You might decide to order several different CBD products to try out, such as our nuhumun MicroMist and CBD softgels, for example. Once they arrive at your door, you have to decide which you want to try first. This might cause you to wonder — can you use multiple CBD products at once?

People are often especially cautious when it comes to adding CBD into their routine. This is because it is derived from the cannabis plant, so many want to be cautious about taking higher doses out of fear of inadvertently “getting high.” They also fear that it may be addictive or at risk of overdose.

Rest assured that at nuhumun, our CBD products contain 0.0% THC, which is the psychoactive compound of cannabis. Without THC, there is no way to get high off of CBD, especially given that our products are derived from high-quality hemp, not marijuana. In addition, research has shown that CBD does not present a risk of abuse or addiction. Finally, there is no history of there ever being an overdose due to cannabis, and therefore, no reported evidence of it being possible to overdose on CBD.

All of this suggests that it is perfectly safe to take multiple CBD products at once. Let’s dive in and assess just how true this statement is.

How Much CBD is Too Much CBD?

It’s important to keep in mind that anything you take will come with certain risks and/or side effects, whether you’re taking a supplement or medication or even simply drinking too much water! This doesn’t mean you should avoid consuming these things; it just means you should do some from a place of education.

When you’re adding CBD to your routine, you want to make sure you’re taking a safe amount of a safe product. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has confirmed that CBD is safe and non-toxic.

That being said, that doesn’t mean that CBD never has side effects. Particularly when you first begin taking CBD or begin upping your dose, you may experience some mild side effects. Fortunately, none are serious, and in most cases, they will disappear once your body gets used to the product.

Some common side effects include:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Dry mouth
  • Diarrhea
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue

In general, these side effects will simply go away after a few uses. However, if you already suffer from one or more of them due to a preexisting condition, consult with a medical professional before taking CBD.

It may benefit you to try CBD for the first time on a day when you don’t have too much going on, as dizziness and fatigue can have an impact on a variety of daily tasks, including driving.

Beyond these minor side effects, research does not suggest you should worry much about CBD. One study from 2011 published in Current Drug Safety estimated that it would take consuming nearly 20,000 mg of CBD in a short time period for it to be toxic, making it virtually impossible.

We recommend starting with a low dose of CBD and gradually increasing your dose as needed.

Is It a Good Idea to Combine CBD Products?

When you first begin to take CBD, you generally find the minimum effective dose early on — meaning, you find the lowest dose of CBD that works for you. You will experience the benefits of CBD for a couple of hours, then it may wear off. Many are confused about the best way to address this — is it safe to take a second dose of CBD?

Yes, it is safe to take a second dose of CBD once the first wears off. There are actually people who choose to dose CBD this way, taking smaller doses throughout the day rather than one large dose in the morning.

If this is what you decide to do, it makes it safer to combine CBD products at once.

Tips for Combining CBD Products

Different CBD products provide different results, which is why you can combine CBD products. If you decide to do this, keep these tips in mind:

Take Small Amounts of CBD

If you’re going to consume two different CBD products, such as a CBD oil spray and a CBD softgel, it’s best to start off as small as possible. Begin by taking a small dose of MicroMist in the morning. Take note of how it makes you feel. Note that CBD is not a “miracle cure” — you should expect to feel some improvement of your symptoms, but nothing earth-shattering.

Once you have determined your minimum effective dose, you can begin to split that up throughout your day. For example, if you find that you benefit from 30 mg, you could take 10mg doses, three times a day. This may help you feel more consistently better throughout the day.

Switch It Up

One of the advantages of using different CBD products is you can get more variety that way. This also gives you the opportunity to assess which product works best for you. Not only that, trying something new is fun!

Keep in mind that different types of CBD products function in different ways. Whereas taking a CBD softgel may kick in a bit slower, some report that it lasts longer. A sublingual spray may take effect more quickly, but it might wear off more quickly as well. If you’re looking for localized pain relief, you might try topical CBD.

Regardless of which products you choose, just keep in mind that they simply won’t work the same way. Which you choose depends on your personal priorities. This can be a great advantage to trying a variety of CBD products — it gives you room to experiment!

Choose a Reputable Brand

You’re not going to make much progress towards your goal of choosing a CBD product if what you invest in is inherently ineffective. That’s the issue with many of the CBD brands out there. Make sure that you are buying only quality CBD derived from locally sourced hemp. Otherwise, you could be taking a product that is virtually useless at best, and at worst, contains toxic chemicals. At nuhumun our products are all 0.0% THC and fully guaranteed to deliver pure, clean, and precisely measured CBD. What you see on our label is exactly what you will be putting in your body.

Final Thoughts

If you’re going to combine CBD products, you can do so in a safe and effective manner. Just be sure to proceed with caution. While CBD is safe to consume, you want to be mindful of side effects of taking too much — not to mention, there’s no need to waste the product! Stay small by finding your minimum effective dose and then you can raise it from there if you so choose. The key is to listen to your body to ensure you get the most out of your CBD experience.
